Every week as I staggered home from 50 cent margarita night at Underdogs (seriously, it is AWESOME), I looked at the former Blockbuster building at 25th and Irving and wondered how long it would stay vacant. I got to stop wondering a few weeks ago, however, when Appeal staffer Tim Ehhalt saw workers adding a Goodwill sign to the structure.

The workers didn’t know when the store would be opening, and repeated phone calls to Goodwill’s local media contact didn’t get us any responses. How long would my neighborhood have to wait to scratch our thrift store itch? (To avoid that itch, btw, I recommend washing anything you buy on “hot” before you wear it.)

Wait no more, Outer Funseteers! Goodwill sent me an email saying that their grand opening celebration, which they say will feature “prizes, live music, festivities and fun” is tomorrow, April 24, from 11-3.

More thrillingly, the email contained a coupon they encouraged recipients to pass on — so pass on I shall! It’s for 20% off all purchases of $20 bucks or more, usable only in the Sunset store on Saturday and Sunday. Sorry, you have to print it out, but here it is.

No word yet on what the store’s hours will be — if 50 cent margarita night ends at 6:30, will I be able to stop in and drunkenly buy a bunch of t-shirts that seem so hilarious at the time but just sad and suburban the next day? MAN I hope so.
