"You have these cowboy cops just riding rough shot on the constitution and I'm sick of it"
arrghhh, typo: it's roughshod...http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/roughshod
But good article, who knew we had gestapo cracking down on places throwing great parties and shows.

The Entertainment Commission is using ABC busts to obscure the very real problems with their agency and local permitting. They are lumping together any criticism into a "war on fun." The real story here is how they are quietly planning to export their failed experiment to the state level, and bring and Entertainment Commission to all of California. This is brass-knuckle politics, and SF residents and the press need to wake-up and hear the real story.

Great article Corey. It's sad to watch San Francisco eat it's young. Disfunctional police force; cops hustling overtime by making art gallery parties, music venues and afterhours parties the Bogey Man and a mayor out to lunch.
And then there is TT: What are you smoking? Cops out of control and an underfunded and severely understaffed agency -- the Entertainment Commission-- is blamed by the cops and SF Weekly for not enforcing the law. In fact, if you read the legislation that created the EC it is the police who are charged with enforcement of entertainment permit violations. I guess it is easier to scarf donuts, collect overtime, and pass the blame to the EC.

Yeah, I'd love to go to more shows, but like a lot of people I'm out of work. C'mon venues, try and meet us halfway on this and stop trying to rip us off. I'm not even talking about drink prices (I don't drink), it's the covers.
The more this keeps going on though the more it seems like DNA Lounge was just the first in a potentially lengthy and horrifying campaign of harassment by a government that seemingly cares more about filling it's own coffers than doing it's job and serving the needs of it's constituents.

FYI, Annie's Social Club chose to close as a business decision because one of the two owners moved out of San Francisco and wanted to cash out ....
The gossip I hear is this is all about one bad cop ... wouldn't a video that can be posted online and shared on all the San Francisco blogs nip this in the bud?
