Oh you know who's also good is Xapno in the lower Haight. The website looks a bit foofy, but the store itself is kind of a steampunk flowershop. Very nice place to get some interesting-looking plants. And also! The Perish Trust on Diviz is excellent for weird old-timey antique knicknacks.
Both of these stores were brought to my attention by art walks, which I think speaks to the value of having events like those.
