Fringe is a great show, but they kept stopping the first season and having these long gaps, which made it harder to follow the overarching plotline and connect the dots between ZDT, Dr. Bell, Dr, Bishop, and Olivia's role as one of the "recruits".
But it also shows how unlike Joss Whedon, JJ Abrams knows how to make a product FOX can understand. While it has a big long story, you can watch one and enjoy it if you've never seen it before, they got a low-cost blonde woman they can put in all the ads, and they moved the production to Vancouver (despite ALLL those tax breaks in NYC) to cut costs.
