In response to gay harassment in El Paso, Fort Worth, Salt Lake City, and San Antonio, drag queen Anna Conda will host a kiss-in to increase LGBT visibility. Get your chapstick ready, girls.

This event ties into a larger, nationwide kiss-in held at other locations from Tennessee all the way to Riverside. Even Canada’s in on the act.

“Straight people can kiss whenever they like in public,” Ms. Conda said, “and it just seems that these people are being harassed because they are kissing in public. So what better way to go and show our strength and the fact that we will continue to kiss no matter what people try to say and do to us?”

In addition to marathon queer kissing, there will be a local drag contingent entertaining the liplockers with songs about kissing. Of course, support from straight allies is appreciated, but the event is mainly for getting the LGBT voice heard. Or lips read.

Above all, there is just one thing to remember, as Anna Conda puts it: “Love is love, no matter who has it or where you do it or what statement people think you’re trying to make. It’s just love and it’s equal for everyone.”
