Corey Denis
Female
San Francisco, CA
i live in the mission and i love music. here's my long boring bio if you need to know more:
Corey Denis has been pioneering digital music marketing for 12 years using everything from ListServs & forums to social networks and MMORPGs. She got her music industry start at What Are Records? where she leveraged online street teams, increasing sales and broadening fanbases for Frank Black, Figurine, Stephen Lynch, Maceo Parker, The Samples, innocence mission, & many others. By 2003 Corey was Director of Online Marketing at What Are Records & published the label’s first online music sampler as a podcast. In addition, Corey built W.A.R.?’s digital strategy, helping the label became one of the first independent record labels to sign a direct deal with iTunes. She moved to San Francisco in 2005 to work at IODA where she helped create and market Promonet, running campaigns for Ambulance LTD, The Black Angels, Tee Pee Records, and many more - before leading the marketing efforts as VP of Marketing at digital distributor reapandsow in 2007. In 2009, Corey went on to start Not Shocking where digital strategy clients include SoundExchange, Michael Tilson Thomas, High Sierra Music Festival, comedian Rob Cantrell, TCC Group, and local SF writer P William Grimm.
She is the founder of Musician & Promoter Workshops, sits on the Advisory Board for New Music Seminar, and on the Recording Academy SF Chapter Advocacy Committee, and is an active member of GET FED committee via the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco .
Public Speaking Highlights include SXSW, CMJ, Bandwidth, NoisePop, SF Music Tech, Les Recontres, Web 2.0pen & Future Of Music Policy Summit.
Corey can play (but totally sucks at) violin, guitar, autoharp & dulcitone, has one patent, two cats and 6 ipods.
