bethcliveowen.jpgMartha Gellhorn, an American journalist whose famous stories covered wars all over the world, will have her life featured in a movie filmed in San Francisco early next year, the mayor’s office said.

The film, “Hemingway & Gellhorn,” will follow Gellhorn (Nicole Kidman) as she embarks on a tumultuous relationship with Ernest Hemingway (Clive Owen) during the Spanish Civil War, but it is not set in San Francisco at any point, according to officials.

Director Philip Kaufman’s “love for this great city is palpable, and the hospitality, wonderful locations, crews, and local talent will be a great asset,” HBO Films President Len Amato said in a statement.

Mayor Gavin Newsom expects San Francisco residents will “reap the benefits” of jobs and a multi-million dollar stimulus to the local economy, he said in a statement.

Producers expect 805 full-time, local jobs to be created for the duration of the project.

Filming is scheduled for February 2011, according to officials.
