A patient at San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center said he was sexually assaulted by another patient on Saturday, a representative for the hospital said today.
Hospital CEO Sue Currin said in a statement the hospital had “not had an incident like this” before.
“Patient safety is our top priority,” she said. “We take this incident very seriously.”
Hospital officials contacted police as soon as they found out about the alleged incident and are cooperating with the investigation, Currin said. An internal investigation is also being conducted.
A hospital spokeswoman declined to elaborate on the claims or provide information about the patients involved. A spokesman with San Francisco police said the department could not comment on the incident.
