And you think your boss is unsupportive of your hopes, dreams, and aspirations? Your complaints pale next to those of a man proud to proclaim that he’s “still indictable.”
As you might recall, San Francisco asked Third Street’s residents and property owners for their thoughts on a proposal to rename the road “Willie Brown Jr, Boulevard” after former mayor, Michael Vick apologist, and Chronicle columnist (this week: Muni should “hire ex-thugs to keep an eye on the thugs” on the bus, and Meg Whitman and Ben Franklin look alike) Willie Brown.
However, the response to this proposal has not been positive! Quoth the Chron: “Of the approximately 300 comments from people who could be identified as Third Street business or property owners, fewer than a dozen supported the renaming.”
Do people still say “BUUUURN!” at statements like that? If not, let’s bring it back, just this once. But that’s not the biggest burn, this is:
“The Hearst Corp., which publishes The Chronicle, pays Brown to write a weekly column for the paper and owns property on Third Street, submitted a letter to the city saying Brown is deserving of a tribute but objecting to the proposed name change.”
Aw, man! Not even the guys signing (some of) your checks (which, is anyone else surprised to hear Willie’s getting paid to write that column? I honestly am!) wants them to name a street after you! Willie, please write about your thoughts on this in next week’s column, we are dying to know your feelings on this betrayal.
