sfpd_squad.jpgA resident of San Francisco’s Hunters Point neighborhood got an unwelcome surprise early this morning when two men allegedly cut power to his house and tried to rob him, police said.

Police said the 52-year-old man, who lives in the 100 block of Cleo Rand Lane, lost power just after midnight and went outside to check if his neighbors were also without electricity.

When he got outside, he was confronted by two men armed with handguns who demanded he hand over his valuables, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said. One of the suspects then struck the man with his gun.

The three men scuffled in the doorway until the resident’s dogs began barking and the two suspects ran off, Esparza said.

The victim was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.

No arrests were made. Investigators later confirmed electricity to the home had been shut off from the outside.

The suspects were described as black males, both about 6 feet tall. One wore dark clothing, and the other was skinny and between 20 and 30 years old, police said.
