Giants Home Opener

On Friday April 9, the San Francisco Giants will host the Atlanta Braves in their season home opener. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m.

The series continues Saturday, at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday at 1:05 p.m. Monday April 12 the Giants will host the Pirates, game time 7:15 p.m.

On each game day, eastbound King Street between 2nd and 3rd streets will be closed beginning at the bottom of the 7th inning until traffic and transit clears post game. Heavy traffic is expected both pre and post game.

Game attendees or anyone having business in the vicinity are encouraged to take public transit (Muni, Bart, SamTrans, and CalTrain).

Due to service changes effective in December, the N-Judah line ends at the Embarcadero station on weekends. T-line and additional bus service is available. Muni customers are advised to call 511 or check the website to plan their trips.

Annual Cherry Blossom Festival
The annual Cherry Blossom Festival will be held in Japantown Saturday, April 10 and Sunday April 11.

Street Closures begin at 7 a.m. Saturday, through 6 p.m. Sunday. Heavy pedestrian traffic is expected, and attendees are encouraged to take Muni to the event.

Lao New Year Festival
The annual Lao New Year Festival will be held in Civic Center Plaza Saturday, April 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Heavy pedestrian traffic is expected, and attendees are encouraged to take Muni to the event.

Hellenic Cultural Parade
The annual Hellenic Cultural Parade will start at 2 p.m. from Market and 2nd streets. Formation will be on 2nd Street between Market and Folsom beginning at 10 a.m. Intersections will remain open.

The parade is not expected to be completely clear of Market Street until 4 p.m.

Muni customers wishing to participate or who otherwise want to go downtown are advised to take Muni Metro.

No traffic will be allowed on Market Street after 1 p.m. between 1st and 8th streets.
Cross traffic will not be allowed.

Cesar Chavez Parade and Festival
On Saturday, April 10, the annual Cesar Chavez Holiday Parade and Festival will begin with a parade from Dolores Park and festival on 24th Street.

The parade will start at noon at from 19th and Guerrero to 24th and Folsom. The Festival will take place on 24th Street between Treat and Bryant between noon and 6 p.m.

Parade: Guerrero, 19th Street and Mission streets will be affected from 9 a.m.
Festival: Harrison Street between 23rd and 25th and 24th Street between Treat and Bryant will be closed from 9 a.m. through 6 p.m.

US Half Marathon – Spring

On Sunday, April 11 at 7 a.m. the US Half Marathon Spring will begin at Aquatic Park. The 13.1 mile course will take runners through the Presidio, GGNRA, Marina, Fort Mason and across the Golden Gate Bridge and back to Aquatic Park. Attendance is expected to be 5,000 runners.

6:30-8 am: Van Ness between North Point and Bay (west side); Bay between Van Ness and Laguna
6:30-10:30am: Marina Boulevard between Buchanan and Lyon Gate; Beach (most northerly lane only) between Buchanan and Laguna; Laguna between Bay and Beach

Sunday Streets Golden Gate Park/Great Highway
This is one of nine Sunday Streets events planned for 2010.

Event routes are open to pedestrians and bicyclists and will be available for recreational activities.

Lincoln Way (westbound only) between MLK Drive and Upper Great Highway
Lincoln (eastbound only) between Upper Great Highway and Lower Great Highway
Great Highway between Lincoln and the south exit/Ocean Beach parking lot
Great Highway between Fulton and the south exit Ocean Beach parking lot
Upper Great Highway (both directions)
Fulton and 47 Avenue to Golf Course (Golf Course access only).

No through traffic at Fulton and 36th and 30th avenues and Transverse.
Through traffic via regular Sunday Park Closure; Chain of Lakes; Crossover Drive.
