2:13 PM: A group of seven knife-wielding suspects robbed an upscale restaurant along San Francisco’s waterfront overnight, attacking and tying up two employees before making off with cash, police said.
The robbery occurred at about 12:15 a.m. at Chaya Brasserie, located at 132 The Embarcadero, police spokesman Sgt. Wilfred Williams said.
No patrons were inside and the restaurant was closed at the time, but the suspects, all males, were able to gain access, Williams said.
Two male employees, a restaurant manager and a janitor, were punched and kicked, then tied up while money was taken from a cash register, Williams said.
Both victims had to be hospitalized but are expected to survive.
No arrests have been made in the case.
Another San Francisco restaurant, Chez Maman in the city’s Portero Hill neighborhood, was robbed last week by masked men armed with guns. Police don’t believe that case is related to this morning’s robbery, Williams said.
4:18 AM: Police in San Francisco are investigating a takeover robbery that took place at an upscale waterfront restaurant overnight.
Officers responded to a reported robbery at Chaya Brasserie located at 132 The Embarcadero at around 1 a.m., police said.
As many as seven suspects are believed to have entered the restaurant and robbed the business, taking money from the register and possibly from individual patrons and staff.
Police did not say if the suspects were armed or if anyone was injured during the robbery.
