BART Still Experiencing Delays After Train Comes Apart In Transbay Tube
BART trains headed to the East Bay from San Francisco are about 15 minutes behind schedule as the system recovers from an incident this morning in which a train came apart inside the Transbay Tube.
Trains headed to San Francisco and the Peninsula were on time as of 8:30 a.m., BART spokesman Jim Allison said.
A nine-car train was headed through the tube when it separated into two pieces shortly after 6:20 a.m.
A five-car section of the train was removed first with the operator on board, Allison said. Another operator then boarded the second, four-car portion, and moved it out of the way as well.
The tracks were inspected and determined to be safe, and normal service through the tube resumed at about 7:25 a.m.
