Lock up your pets, folks! We’re not touching the debate on if cats should be kept indoors or allowed to roam, but reports that a coyote might have killed a cat on Russian Hill have us double locking the imaginary cat door we do not actually have.

According to the Chronicle, Russian Hill resident (she lives on Greenwich between Leavenworth and Hyde) Melissa Dunn says her husband “let out the couple’s 2-year-old black cat, Ulubulu, at about 5:30 a.m.” They found his dead body in the bushes near their house around 7.

Dunn says she suspects Ulubulu met with his demise at the paws of a coyote her husband and her gardener (two different people) had seen in the area.

Animal Care and Control is investigating the case. Here’s the ACC’s page on coyotes in the city. People, if you see a coyote, leave it alone, OK?
