A woman found dead inside a burned recreational vehicle in San Francisco’s Bayview District on Saturday has still not been identified, authorities said today.
The medical examiner’s office conducted an autopsy on the woman today, but said this afternoon that both her identity and cause of death remain undetermined.
Police said today that the woman was believed to be between 20 and 40 years old.
Her body was found in an RV parked in the 1200 block of Van Dyke Avenue, a dead-end street in an industrial part of the Bayview, police spokesman Officer Samson Chan said.
The fire was reported at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
Arson investigators from the police and fire departments have yet to determine the cause of the blaze, but the case has not at this time been ruled a homicide.
Fire Department spokeswoman Lt. Mindy Talmadge said the area is “basically a scrap yard.” She said people living out of their vehicles park in the area, but that this did not appear to have been one of the “long-term vehicles” there.
