Ocean Beach Tuesday, between storms

Everyone knows that this week’s weather has been totally crappy. But did you know that that “totally crappy,” had a literal implication?

First, however, the figurative shit: today’s report in the Examiner tells us things aren’t getting any better today:

Wednesday’s storm is expected to bring even more water to the already-saturated region. National Weather Service forecaster Diana Henderson said that 1 to 1.5 inches of rain should fall in the flat, lower parts of The City and perhaps 2 to 4 inches in the hills… Waves 17- to 24-feet tall will wallop the coastline.

It’s fun to swim in poop!

Between storms yesterday, the Appeal’s own Tim Ehhalt went to Ocean Beach to walk our dogs, when he observed a man strip down into his boxers before plunging into the sea.

I thought it was a little weird because he was sort of stripping as he’s walking. I’m getting a little nervous, thinking “is this guy going to end it all?” because I’m fully dressed and fucking freezing. Then I realized he was sort of wading and just having fun. When the storm kicked back in, I saw him get out and start getting dressed so I knew he was OK.

“OK” might be relative, Tim — according to that same Examiner report:

Surfers were warned not to go into the water because Tuesday’s storms caused sewage leaks at Ocean Beach, Baker Beach, China Beach and Fort Funston, San Francisco Public Utilities Commission spokeswoman Kenya Briggs said.

Take note, y’all polar bears: unless you’re into scat play, this might not be the week for an SF beach frolic.
