The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory alert for the entire San Francisco Bay area and Santa Cruz County up through Tuesday evening. The advisory cautions old and infirm residents to seek shelter from the heat, and reminds parents that children and pets should be under no condition left alone in the car with the windows up.
CBS5 reports that much of the inland regions will experience triple digit temperatures over the next few days, while temperatures in San Francisco will rise into the 90s. On Monday coastal temperatures will remain relatively mild, but forecasters predict that the heat wave will reach the marine layer by tomorrow.
The Bay Area Quality Management District has declared today a “Spare the Air Day,” and encourages bay area residents to carpool or use public transportation wherever possible.
San Francisco residents who have become dependent upon their sartorial diet of cardigans, wool leggings, and Randal P. McMurphy snow beanies are advised to look to Austin, New York, and Los Angeles for inspiration on how to look cool while staying cool.
