San Francisco police today released a sketch of a suspect wanted in connection with the stabbing of an 11-year-old boy on a Muni Bus last week.
Hatim Mansori was riding home alone on Sept. 1 at about 6 p.m. when a man attacked him at the back of the 49 Van Ness/Mission-line bus, stabbing him once in the abdomen, according to police.
The incident happened near 19th and Mission streets. The suspect, described as possibly homeless, jumped out of the bus and ran off, according to police.
Mansori was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital, where doctors said he might have bled to death if he had arrived five minutes later.
Mansori continued to recover at the hospital this week, hospital spokeswoman Rachael Kagan said. He is listed in good condition and is still improving, she said Wednesday.
Witnesses described him as a “scruffy-looking” black man with dark facial hair, 25 to 35 years old, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall, and about 190 pounds. He also had a strong body odor, witnesses said.
He was wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and dark shoes at the time.
