That's hilarious, the victim tried to negotiate with the criminal and got ripped off twice. It's getting to the point where having nice stuff in San Francisco is a detriment, that people want your i(whatever), fixer bike, laptop, etc. Here's what I do, I have a beater bike, beater phone, beater laptop, beater car, and I look homeless. SF is all about being substandard.

One has to be cautious, esp. with smartphones, on Muni. They are essentially a stack of 100 dollar bills, dressed up as a portable computer.

Negotiations with terrorists and criminals never work. The little dears that stole this stuff know they can get away with it, because it's not like the DA prosecutes crime anyway. Maybe more San Franciscans need to take a gun class and start carrying. Then we'll see how many of these poor little dears steal.

Greg: San Francisco won't issue Concealed Weapon permit, and that's a good thing. Ain't worth killing someone for an iphone. Smarter thing would be to make sure that cell phone carriers won't let someone use a stolen cell phone on their networks.
