Tired of that nagging sense you get from flying that you’re punching baby penguins in the face with your carbon emissions? Well, SFGate and CBS 5 both report that the San Francisco Int’l Airport is offering a solution. New kiosks at the airport allow you to put in your flight info and calculate your total emissions. Then you pay a dollar amount for carbon credits that absolve your sins, er, offset your greenhouse gases.
If you’re not into confessionals, or you worry about the usefulness of carbon credits, you’re certainly not alone. We’re not sure how supporting the Dogpatch Biofuel station in SF offsets carbon, since that veggie exhaust still contains the pollutant. However, the Garcia River Forest up in Mendo seems to have government certified carbon credits that PG&E is already purchasing.
