9/19 9:24 PM: A gang dispute likely led to the shooting death of a 21-year-old San Francisco man Friday night in the Mission District, according to police.
The San Francisco medical examiner’s office identified the man as Michael Sanchez.
Police spokesman Sgt. Wilfred Williams said today that two groups of men began arguing on the street at about 7:10 p.m. in the area of 24th and Shotwell streets.
The argument escalated, and Sanchez and another man were shot. Sanchez was killed and second man, whose name was not released, is expected to survive.
“It’s believed to be gang-related,” Williams said.
An employee at Philz Coffee, located about a block away at 3101 24th St., said she heard sirens go by. She said there was no panic in the store but that some customers who came in were “a little shaken up.”

9/18 8:58 PM: One person was killed and another injured in a shooting tonight in San Francisco’s Mission District, police said.
The shooting happened at about 7:10 p.m. in the area of 24th and Shotwell streets, according to police. A male victim was killed and a second victim was injured, police said.
Police did not immediately release a suspect description.
