A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured in San Francisco early this morning, police said.

Emergency units responded to an injury crash reported just past 1 a.m. on Franklin Street near Geary Boulevard, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

Preliminary reports indicate a silver Volvo traveling on Franklin, a one-way street, had struck a pedestrian near an intersection with Geary Boulevard.

The victim was taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition, police said.

The vehicle driver was not injured, police said, and the collision was still under investigation.
