Apparently, everyone but we were at the San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau annual luncheon on Tuesday. And where the Examiner heard “banner year,” The Chronicle’s CW Nevius is reporting today as a “harsh reality.”
The solution (besides twitter and Facebook, geez)? Staycation.
“We want (local residents) to realize they can come to a place like Fisherman’s Wharf and spend $5 or $500,” said Rodney Fong, the incoming chairman of the visitors bureau board of directors and president of the wharf’s Wax Museum. “You’ve even got free entertainment.”
We can’t decide, by “free entertainment” does he mean heavyset fannypackers in shorts, or that fabulous selection of chain restaurants the rest of the City neglects to host?
