In a clever and timely move, Google has started a sculptural ad campaign, which places real life “favorite places” pins in front of the San Francisco businesses most loved by its best connected friends.

Unfortunately, real world graphics are much easier to hack, er, tag, as the pin by the Mission’s St. Francis Fountain shows. In Las Vegas, similar sign vandalism resulted in calls for mob rule and corporal punishment… but that tagging was done on the iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign. Local attachment to Google’s ad art has yet to result in similar rage.
