Break Taken After BART Negotiations Pass 24 Hour Mark
According to KRON4's most recent broadcast, parties at the BART negotiations will take a break after a day of non-stop negotiations.
While the SEIU has expressed optimism, BART spokesman Linton Johnson has said, "We are obviously more guarded," about reaching a deal. Clearly running on energy drink fumes, Linton has said that costs need to be cut because BART is currently "burning money like the wazoo."
In order to cut $100 million in labor costs, BART may impose contracts on workers, who in turn may strike without the agreed-upon 72 hour warning in this situation. Midnight last night was the deadline to reach an agreement.
