State Bar Court Seeking Three Judges

California’s State Bar Court is seeking three judges for appointment to the court, which hears and decides on attorney disciplinary and regulatory matters and makes recommendations to the Supreme Court on those matters, according to the State Bar of California.

Two judges will serve in the Hearing Department and one will serve in the Review Department.

The Review Department is the appellate level of the State Bar Court, while the Hearing Department is the trial level, state bar officials said.

The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. on March 11.

The Senate Committee on Rules will choose one hearing judge in San Francisco, according to state bar officials. The Supreme Court will appoint the review judge and the other hearing judge in Los Angeles.

The yearly salary for a hearing judge is $172,637 and the annual salary for a review judge is $189,041.

Each judge will serve a six-year term, state bar officials said.
