Southwest Flight Returning To Oakland With Landing Gear Issue

A flight this morning from Oakland International Airport to Chicago’s Midway International Airport is returning to Oakland because of a landing gear problem, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said.

Southwest Airlines Flight 2547 is in a holding pattern and burning off fuel until it plans to land in Oakland at 10 a.m., FAA spokesman Allen Kenitzer and Southwest officials said.

The flight, which took off at about 6 a.m., has 139 passengers on board, Southwest officials said.

The captain in command decided to turn back after taking off because of a maintenance issue, Southwest officials said.
