Officer Injured When Suspect Allegedly Strikes Officer With Vehicle

A San Francisco police officer is in stable condition after a suspect driving a vehicle allegedly struck the officer early this morning in an attempt to run the officer over, according to police.

At approximately midnight, the officer arrived in the unit block of Mirabela Avenue to respond to a possible auto burglary, police said.

As the officer stepped out of his patrol vehicle, the suspect, who was sitting inside a vehicle, attempted to run over the officer. The suspect struck the officer, pinning him up against the vehicle, according to police.

As the suspect attempted to flee in the vehicle, another officer vehicle arrived at the scene. The suspect struck the second patrol vehicle but was unable to escape, police said.

Officers were able to immediately take the suspect into custody.

The injured officer was taken to San Francisco General Hospital. The officer suffered broken ribs and leg injuries, police said.

Two other possible suspects who may have been involved in the incident were detained, police said.

There are no other outstanding suspects at this time and police did not release the identity of the suspects.
