Man Claiming to be PG&E Worker Trespasses at Portola Home

A man posing as a utility worker trespassed at a home in San Francisco’s Portola neighborhood Tuesday afternoon while a woman was asleep inside, police said.

At about 4:30 p.m., a woman in her 70s was sleeping at her home in the 400 block of University Street, near John McLaren Park, when she awoke to the sound of her front door closing, according to police.

The victim’s husband had just come home and saw a man walking out of the house, police said.

Police said that when the husband confronted the suspect, the suspect stated that he was with PG&E and was checking the meter for leaks. The suspect then fled the property and has not been located.

San Francisco police have not said whether the suspect took anything from the home. No injuries were reported in the incident.
