SFFD Awarded Grant to Purchase Five Ambulances

The San Francisco Fire Department has been awarded a Department of Homeland Security 2014 Assistance to Firefighters Grant for the purchase of five new ambulances, the fire department announced Thursday.

The grant is in the amount of $780,664.

The grant was the third received by the SFFD in recent weeks.

The department was recently awarded a $769,992 Port Security Grant for the purchase of a dive boat with chemical weapon detection capabilities and an $8.2 million SAFER Grant to hire 36 additional firefighters.

The dive boat will serve the Bay Area region, and the SAFER Grant will pay the firefighters’ salaries for two years, according to the fire department.
