Person Hit by BART Train at Embarcadero Dies, Station Remains Closed

A person hit by a BART train at San Francisco’s Embarcadero station this afternoon has died, an agency spokesman said.

BART spokesman Jim Allison said at about 2:30 p.m. that the San Francisco medical examiner’s office is responding to the scene. The station remains closed and major delays persist systemwide.

The incident was reported as a major medical emergency at 1:25 p.m. Allison said a person was hit by a Dublin/Pleasanton-bound train at the Embarcadero station.

BART is running limited single-track service through the Embarcadero station on the San Francisco International Airport-Pittsburg/Bay Point line, but all other lines that run through the station are being turned around, Allison said.

No other details about the incident were immediately available, he said.
