The San Francisco Police Department staged a training operation for their Auxiliary Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) in the city’s Diamond Heights neighborhood Saturday night.
The drill was scheduled to run from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the San Francisco Police Academy, 350 Amber Drive. Participants practiced searching for an at-risk missing person after a major earthquake, according to police.
Members of the public were invited to observe and inquire about joining ALERT. The ALERT team is a disaster-preparedness group that recruits, trains, credentials and uniforms volunteers to help the police department during major disasters, according to police.
