Teen Shot at Mission District Playground

A male suspect who shot a teenager walking with a friend through a playground in San Francisco’s Mission District on Sunday night remains at large, police said.

Shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday, the 19-year-old victim was walking through the James Rolph Jr. Playground near the intersection of 26th and Hampshire streets when an unidentified male suspect armed with a handgun approached.

The suspect ran up to the teen and shot him multiple times before fleeing, police said.

The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Police have not identified a suspect or possible motive for the shooting.
