SFFD Respond to Gas Leak in Pacific Heights

A gas leak reported today at an apartment complex in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights neighborhood has been capped, a PG&E spokesman said.

The leak happened when crews were changing a valve inside the building at 1835 Franklin St., letting loose gas, according to PG&E spokesman Nick Smith.

Fire crews responded to the incident around 1:30 p.m.

A resident called the fire department to report the smell of gas, and fire crews decided to evacuate residents for safety reasons, Smith said.

According to Smith, the evacuation lasted about 30 minutes.

There were no reports of injuries and no interruptions to service, Smith said.
