PG&E Crews Cap Gas Leak in Haight-Ashbury

PG&E crews have capped a gas leak in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury neighborhood this afternoon, a utility spokesman said.

The leak was reported at 11:55 a.m. near the intersection of Haight Street and Masonic Avenue after a third-party construction crew struck a 2-inch plastic gas line, PG&E spokesman Denny Boyles said.

The leak prompted the evacuation of nearby businesses, San Francisco fire officials said.

PG&E crews responded and stopped the flow of gas by 12:30 p.m., Boyles said.

He said crews remained on the scene this afternoon to make repairs to the gas line.
