SF Sheriff Candidates Mirkarami, Hennessy Participate in Community Forum

A community forum will be held this evening to allow incumbent San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi and challenger Vicki Hennessy to debate their views on immigrant rights, alternatives to incarceration and issues impacting low-income communities of color.

Mirkarimi, elected in 2011, is running for reelection on the November ballot.

The forum will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on the fourth floor in the library of Mission High School, located at 3750 18th St.

Nancy Mullane, author of the book “Life After Murder” and the executive director of the podcast series “Life of the Law,” will be the moderator of the candidate forum.

Spanish interpretation will be provided, as will childcare and refreshments, according to organizers.

The forum is hosted by the Asian Law Caucus, Causa Justa Just Cause, Coleman Advocates for Children and Youth, Communities United Against Violence, California Immigrant Policy Center, Dolores Street Community Services, La Raza Centro Legal and Mujeres Unidas y Activas.
