Driver Bails Out of Moving Vehicle After Being Shot in Bayview

A 23-year-old man was shot while driving in San Francisco’s Bayview District on Saturday night, according to police.

At 9:56 p.m., the man heard gunfire and his side window shattered while he drove down Newcomb Avenue. The victim jumped out of the car window but his vehicle was still in drive, police said.

The car continued down the street and crashed into a gate at 1535 Newcomb Ave. The driver was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm that was not considered life-threatening, according to police.

No information about the suspect was immediately available this morning, police said.
