A man in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood suffered stab wounds to his neck and back on Thursday night, police said.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was near the intersection of Sixth and Jessie streets at about 9:15 p.m. when a person approached him from behind, according to police.
Armed with a sharp object, the suspect stabbed the man multiple times in his back and the rear of his neck, police said.
The suspect then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.
Police said the victim was treated at San Francisco General Hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
No suspects are in custody and police are still investigating a motive for the stabbing.
