Man Shot Wednesday near Candlestick Point Identified

A 21-year-old San Francisco man who was fatally shot on Wednesday night has been identified as Daniel Filimona, according to the San Francisco medical examiner’s office.

San Francisco police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said the homicide is tied to a crime scene at Jamestown Avenue and Harney Way located next to Candlestick Point State Recreation Area and the Candlestick Park parking lot.

The victim was initially taken to Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco Medical Center and then to San Francisco General Hospital but was pronounced dead, Esparza said.

Police have not released additional details about the homicide, including the exact time of the shooting and information about a possible suspect.

The motive for the fatal shooting remains under investigation.
