Report of Child Battery Leads to Woman’s Arrest on Outstanding Warrants

A female was arrested on outstanding warrants after a report of child battery at BART’s Embarcadero station in San Francisco this evening, a BART police lieutenant said.

Officers responded to a report of a battery on a inbound train involving a small child at the station located at 298 Market St. around 6:10 p.m., BART police Lt. Michael Hayes.

The victim and a witness boarded off the train at the Embarcadero station and reported the incident to BART police dispatch, Hayes said.

Officers were able to find the suspect, who matched a description from the victim and witness, at the Civic Center station, he said.

Police couldn’t confirm if the battery took place because the victim and witness left the Embarcadero station before officers arrived, Hayes said.

The female was arrested on two outstanding warrants totaling $60,000 and booked into San Francisco County Jail, he said.

Trains experienced a 15-minute delay at the Embarcadero station in the San Francisco International Airport, Millbrae and East Bay directions during the police investigation, transit agency officials said.
