Man Fatally Shot in Excelsior District Identified

A 39-year-old man who was shot and killed in San Francisco’s Excelsior District early Saturday morning has been identified, according to the medical examiner’s office.

San Francisco resident Orlando Ford died shortly after police responded to a report of shots fired at the intersection of Mission Street and Geneva Avenue around 2:45 a.m. Saturday, police Officer Albie Esparza said.

Witnesses reported hearing an argument followed by gunshots, police said.

Officers found Ford unconscious and not breathing, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office and police.

Police said two suspects, described only as men in their 30s possibly in a van, remain at large, according to Esparza.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
