Water Main Break Damages Homes in Bayview

Approximately five to seven homes sustained water damage this morning in San Francisco’s Bayview District after a water main break, a San Francisco Public Utilities Commission spokesman said.

San Francisco Public Utilities Commission spokesman Tyrone Jue said the break occurred around midnight in the area of Key Avenue and Keith Street.

The break also flooded several streets in the area.

Jue said the cause of the break in the 12-inch pipe is still unknown.

Crews have shut off the water flow to the pipe and have been able to stop water from flowing into the homes, Jue said.

Water was still flowing from the pipe around 3:00 a.m.

San Francisco fire and police departments also responded to the scene.

Jue said several customers are currently without service, but the number of customers affected wasn’t immediately available.
