A man driving a vehicle in San Francisco’s Noe Valley neighborhood early this morning was rear-ended by another vehicle before being pistol-whipped and then robbed at gunpoint by the driver, a police spokesman said.
Police received a report of the collision and armed robbery at the intersection of 24th and Dolores streets around 2:20 a.m., San Francisco police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.
The driver of a silver four-door sedan rear-ended the victim’s car and approached the victim, a 37-year-old man, Esparza said.
Instead of exchanging insurance information, the suspect pointed a handgun at the victim, according to Esparza.
He demanded the victim’s property and then hit him with the pistol in the back of his head.
The suspect took the man’s duffel bag, wallet and cellphone before fleeing the area in the silver sedan, Esparza said.
The victim suffered a cut to the back of his head and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Esparza said.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
The suspect is described as a man in his early 20s, standing about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds. He had a dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes and was clean shaven.
The suspect was wearing black jeans with a black shirt and carrying a handgun at the time of the robbery, Esparza said.
