Firefighter Sprains Ankle While Battling Tenderloin Blaze

A firefighter suffered a sprained ankle while battling a blaze in the basement of a building in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood this morning, a fire dispatcher said.

The one-alarm fire was reported at 6:38 a.m. at 407 Ellis St., a four-story building, the dispatcher said.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze nearly an hour later at 7:34 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, the dispatcher said.
