Weekend Traffic And Transit Disruptions: How To Get To Outside Lands, Pistahan Parade, M Oceanview Disruption

Outside Lands Festival
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Outside Lands Music Festival will be held in Golden Gate Park from noon to 10 p.m. An attendance of 60,000 participants is expected each day.

The following Muni lines and routes will be affected:
N Judah
5 Fulton
5L Fulton Limited
28 19th Avenue
29 Sunset
44 O’Shaughnessy
71 Haight-Noriega

Due to increased ridership for the event, concert patrons should allow extra travel time on the N Judah line and all bus routes serving Golden Gate Park. Traffic in the area will also be heavy.

Monitored bicycle parking will be provided.

To help shorten delays, Muni customers may purchase their fare in advance or add extra value to their Clipper cards in advance to expedite boarding. SFMTA staff will sell Muni fares from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the following locations:

Powell Muni/BART Station
Civic Center Muni/BART Station

The private Outside Lands shuttle service will run between 11 a.m. and midnight each day from the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium to the event venue. Please visit http://sfoutsidelands.com/shuttlepass for shuttle pricing information.

For Muni Service to and from Outside Lands
From approximately 10 a.m. until 11:30 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Muni will provide supplemental service on the N Judah line and 5L Fulton Limited route from downtown.

Concert patrons are encouraged to allow plenty of travel time. Gates will open at 11 a.m. before the first concert each day.

Pre-concert: Friday
From approximately 2 p.m. until 6 p.m., the SFMTA will supplement service on the 5L Fulton Limited route and will operate between Market and Sansome streets and Fulton at 25th Avenue.

Post-concert: Friday Night
After the final concert, from approximately 8 p.m. until 11:30 p.m., the 5L Fulton Limited will operate one-way eastbound departing from Fulton at 30th Avenue and Fulton at 25th Avenue to Hyde and Grove streets.

From approximately 7 p.m. until 10 p.m., supplemental service will be provided on inbound and outbound 5 Fulton route and will operate from La Playa Street to McAllister and Jones streets.

Boarding locations:
5L Fulton Limited – Fulton Street at 30th Avenue and Fulton Street at 25th Avenue
N Judah – Judah Street at Sunset Boulevard or any N-Judah stop on Judah Street. N Owl bus service will be available all night after N Judah streetcar service ends

From approximately 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., the 5L Fulton Limited will operate from Market and Front streets to Fulton Street and 25th Avenue.

From approximately 2 p.m. until 10 p.m., supplemental service will be provided on inbound and outbound 5 Fulton route and will operate between Ocean Beach and McAllister and Jones streets.

Post-concert: Saturday and Sunday
After the final concert, from approximately 8 until 11:30 p.m., the 5L Fulton Limited will operate one-way eastbound departing from Fulton at 30th Avenue and Fulton at 25th Avenue to Hyde and Grove streets.

From approximately 2 p.m. until 10 p.m., supplemental service will be provided on inbound and outbound 5 Fulton route and will operate between Ocean Beach and McAllister and Jones streets.

Additional metro rail service will operate on the N Judah line from approximately 10 a.m. until 11:30 p.m.

Boarding locations:
5L Fulton Limited – Fulton Street at 30th Avenue and Fulton Street at 25th Avenue
N Judah – Judah Street at Sunset Boulevard or any N-Judah stop on Judah Street. N Owl bus service will be available all night after N Judah streetcar service ends

The last bus will depart from these locations at 11:30 p.m. SFMTA staff will be on site to direct customers.

Pistahan Parade and Festival
On Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, the 21st annual Pistahan Festival will take place at Yerba Buena Gardens.

On Saturday, a parade in conjunction with the Pistahan Arts Festival will be held at Grove and Larkin streets in Civic Center with an opening ceremony at 11 a.m.

At 11 a.m., the parade will start at Grove Street, proceed east on Market Street, south to 4th Street and into Yerba Buena Gardens, where the Pistahan Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

Cross traffic will be allowed between parade units on an intermittent basis.

ONGOING WORK: M Ocean View Line Rail Rehabilitation Project
As an ongoing effort to keep the infrastructure in a state of good repair, SFMTA is replacing the aging tracks on the M Ocean View line on San Jose Avenue between Geneva and Niagara avenues.

Phase five of the re-railing construction project has begun and is estimated to be complete by September 2, 2014.

Construction work hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

During construction, the M Ocean View line will operate on regular Muni buses between stops at Broad Street and Plymouth Avenue and at San Jose and Geneva avenues. These buses will serve the same rail stops. Regular train service will operate between the Broad Street/Plymouth Avenue and Embarcadero stations.

REMINDER: Sewer Restoration Work
Crews from Public Utilities Commission will continue installation work of a new sewer main pipeline on Spear Street between Market and Mission streets. This construction project is anticipated to last until Spring of 2015.

Spear Street between Market and Mission streets will be closed during the construction period.

During the street closure:

No street parking will be allowed
Sidewalk will remain open for pedestrian traffic
Local access will be allowed

Muni bus stops on Spear Street will be suspended and the following inbound Muni routes will be affected:

9 San Bruno
9L San Bruno Limited
21 Hayes
31 Balboa
L Owl
