A 35-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stabbing and seriously injuring another man in San Francisco’s Marina District early Sunday morning, police said today.
Nathan Bartel, of San Francisco, was arrested in connection with the stabbing, which was reported at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday near Scott and Chestnut streets, according to police.
The 32-year-old victim was among a group of friends who went to a pizza shop after a night of drinking, police spokeswoman Sgt. Danielle Newman said.
Bartel was also at the shop and an argument ensued between him and another man, Newman said.
The victim and his friends left the pizza shop and so did Bartel, who allegedly stabbed the victim in the abdomen and then tried to flee in a taxi, according to Newman.
The victim’s friends ran down the taxi and got it to stop, and responding officers took Bartel into custody near Divisadero and Scott streets. The victim was taken to a hospital with a stab wound but is expected to survive, Newman said.
Bartel was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and a warrant violation, Newman said.
