Suspect Arrested in Haight-Ashbury Stabbing

A man who fled after allegedly stabbing another man in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury neighborhood early this morning was found and arrested nearby, a police spokesman said.

The stabbing happened at about 12:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of Haight Street, San Francisco police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The victim, a 41-year-old man, was stabbed in the armpit area and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, Shyy said. He is expected to survive.

A short time later, police found a suspect in the Panhandle near Oak and Shrader streets, Shyy said.

The suspect, identified as 23-year-old transient Samuel Linsday, was booked into jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and an outstanding traffic warrant, Shyy said.
