Power has been restored to all but about 100 PG&E customers in San Francisco tonight after an apparent equipment failure caused an outage that initially affected some 5,300 customers, a utility spokesman said.
The outage was reported around 3:30 p.m. and is affecting customers between 23rd and 30th streets in the city’s Mission District and Noe Valley neighborhoods, PG&E spokesman Jason King said.
Power was restored to all but 96 customers as of 8:45 p.m., PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi said. The remaining customers are estimated to have power back by about 11 p.m., Guidi said.
The cause of the power outage appears to be underground equipment failure, King said.
