On Friday at 6 p.m., the Critical Mass bicycle ride will begin at Justin Herman Plaza.
There will be heavy traffic in the area. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time.
Baseball Game Traffic Reroutes and Transportation Options
From Friday, and through next Wednesday, the San Francisco Giants will play six home games at AT&T Park. Listed below are start times for these games:
Three games against Los Angeles Dodgers:
7:15 p.m., Friday
6:05 p.m., Saturday
5:07 p.m., Sunday
Three games against Pittsburgh Pirates:
7:15 p.m., Monday
7:15 p.m., Tuesday
12:45 p.m., Wednesday
The SFMTA advises motorists of the increased congestion in downtown San Francisco related to these special events and advises commuters to use transit, taxis, bicycles or walk and to avoid using the Bay Bridge in the two hours before or after these games.
As a reminder to fans, in order to reduce congestion on city streets after all events at AT&T Park, the SFMTA will close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets from the seventh inning until after the post-game traffic has died down. Additionally, the northbound portion of the 4th Street (Peter R. Maloney) Bridge will be closed to all traffic except streetcars, buses, taxis and bicycles during the post-game period. Giants fans parked south of Mission Creek Channel who are heading north of the channel are encouraged to exit to the south along 3rd or 4th streets in order to avoid congestion on King and 3rd streets after AT&T Park events.
Athletic Association Event
On Saturday and Sunday, the San Francisco Gaelic Athletic Association event will take place at the San Francisco Gaelic Fields on Treasure Island.
Avenue “H” between 11th and 13th streets will be closed from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
The 108 Treasure Island Muni route will be affected during the closure.
San Francisco Marathon
On Sunday the annual San Francisco Marathon will begin from The Embarcadero and Mission Street at 5:30 a.m., with staggered starts from 5:30 a.m. until 6:30 a.m. The race route will loop north along The Embarcadero, through the Presidio, the outer Richmond District, Golden Gate Park, the Haight, the Mission District, Inner Bayview and back to The Embarcadero. An attendance of up to 20,000 runners is expected.
From midnight, Saturday to 2:45 p.m., Sunday, the following street closures will be required:
Northbound Embarcadero between Broadway and King Street
King Street between northbound Embarcadero and 3rd Street
Steuart Street between Howard Street and the Southerly Terminus Eastbound Howard Street between The Embarcadero and Spear Street
Southbound Embarcadero between Broadway and Harrison Street
Various additional street closures will be required between 5 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. throughout the race route including in the Presidio and Golden Gate Park. A detailed list with suggested detours can be found at www.thesfmarathon.com.

On Sunday, the Up Your Alley Street Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Soccer Game at Candlestick Park
On Sunday, the San Jose Earthquakes will hose UEFA Champions League Semifinalist Atletico Madrid at Candlestick Park. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. and is expected to end at approximately 7 p.m.
Traffic delays will be expected for all Muni lines on or near 3rd Street and near the event area.
The 87S Candlestick Park Shuttle bus service will provide supplemental service to Candlestick Park to and from Gilman/Paul stations before and after the game. T Third customers should transfer at the Gilman/Paul station to the 87S Candlestick Park Shuttle, which operates directly between the station and Candlestick Park.
Muni Forward: Rapid Network Improvements on Market Street
On Friday, the installation of new, red transit-only lanes on Market Street will begin. The durable, new red transit-only lanes consist of a red thermoplastic bonded to the existing lanes and will run between 5th and 12th streets. The red carpet treatment makes the dedicated transit-only lanes more visible to motorists to ensure the lanes are kept clear for Muni and taxis. The Market Street red carpet lane will be similar to the ones already installed on Church, 3rd, Geary and O’Farrell streets. The installation of red lane treatment will be conducted over Friday and Saturday nights through November.
This weekend’s red lane installation will require the following partial street closure from 10:30 p.m., Friday to 5 a.m., Saturday:
Eastbound transit-only or track lane of Market Street between 5th Street and Mason Street
Taxis, delivery trucks and other buses allowed to use this lane will be diverted to the curb lane.
Cross traffic will be permitted.
All Muni buses will operate in the curb lane and use curb lane bus stops.
The F Market and Wharves line will operate through the installation area.
ONGOING WORK: M Ocean View Line Rail Rehabilitation Project
As an ongoing effort to keep the infrastructure in a state of good repair, SFMTA is replacing the aging tracks on the M Ocean View line on San Jose Avenue between Geneva and Niagara avenues.
Phase five of the re-railing construction project has begun and is estimated to be complete by September 2, 2014.
Construction work hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
During construction, the M Ocean View line will operate on regular Muni buses between stops at Broad Street and Plymouth Avenue and at San Jose and Geneva avenues. These buses will serve the same rail stops. Regular train service will operate between the Broad Street/Plymouth Avenue and Embarcadero stations.
REMINDER: Sewer Restoration Work
Crews from Public Utilities Commission will continue installation work of a new sewer main pipeline on Spear Street between Market and Mission streets. This construction project is anticipated to last until Spring of 2015.
Spear Street between Market and Mission streets will be closed during the construction period.
During the street closure:
No street parking will be allowed
Sidewalk will remain open for pedestrian traffic
Local access will be allowed
Muni bus stops on Spear Street will be suspended and the following inbound Muni routes will be affected:
