
A man who was fatally shot in San Francisco’s Mission District on Saturday morning has been identified, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Benjamin Martinez, 28, of San Francisco, was found around 1:30 a.m. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the 3000 block of 16th Street.
Police said the suspect walked up to Martinez, shot him several times in the upper body and then fled.
Martinez was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
The assailant was described only as a male suspect with a gun who had not been caught as of this morning, police said.
